Otsu
Contemporary Coastal Living with Warmth, Softness and Soul.
OTSU HOUSE is a luxury contemporary residence designed by Sam Ray in collaboration with owners Josh and Rachel Ooi. Combining soft architectural forms, landscaped courtyards and light-filled interiors, the home embraces the principles of subtropical living while delivering a refined and timeless aesthetic.
Featuring natural materials, indoor-outdoor living spaces and carefully considered spatial planning, OTSU HOUSE demonstrates how thoughtful design can enhance everyday living and create a lasting connection between people, architecture and place.
OTSU HOUSE was conceived as a retreat from the pace of modern life — a home where light, materiality and simplicity work together to create a sense of calm.
The architecture embraces gentle curves and softened transitions, balancing the strength of concrete and masonry with warm timber, natural stone and handcrafted finishes. Courtyards and landscaped pockets become extensions of the internal living spaces, encouraging natural ventilation and enhancing the home’s connection to its environment.
A restrained palette of whites, warm timbers and natural textures creates a timeless backdrop that allows daily life to take centre stage. Every space has been carefully considered to promote comfort, functionality and a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle.
